second issue is i get a error window when i try to edit my tool library after i hit replace, attached is a screen shot of my error

any help would be great

Hi TPR, welcome to the SprutCAM forum.

The first thing to check is that SprutCAM 8 is running with full administrator rights. The best way of doing this, if you don't already know, is to create a shortcut for SprutCAM 8, then right click the shortcut and select 'Properties' from the menu on the 'Shortcut' tab in the window that opens. Now click 'Advanced' and select the 'Run as administrator' option and then close these windows.

It also best to install SprutCAM 8 with full administrator rights too.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you are getting on with this problem.

I created this narrated video tutorial for my customers about applying Admin rights when using SprutCAM 7, but the same 'rules' apply for SprutCAM 8 too: http://www.download.sprut.co.uk/Forum_vide...inistrator.html

You can always download this file to install the latest build of SprutCAM 8.
When you run this file, it will check which files require updating in your installation, it will then download the updated files and install them for you.
This is of course assuming that your PC that is running SprutCAM 8 has an internet connection, if not then you can download an archived version of the installer here: http://download.sprutcam.com/download/spru...lease_EN_RU.zip which can then be transferred to the non internet connected PC via a USB memory stick or something similar to enable the installation of SprutCAM 8.

I hope this helps.

You can always download this file to install the latest build of SprutCAM 8.
When you run this file, it will check which files require updating in your installation, it will then download the updated files and install them for you.
In the latest Nightbuild version there is a new option to update your installation from within SprutCAM 8: 'Help' - 'Updates', or click on the icon in the bottom right of the main SprutCAM window.

thank you!

i changed my permissions to administrator and reinstalled as a administrator, still the same issue where i dont see all my tools under the machining tab, now if i go to the tormach machine tab, then machine libraries and go to milling tools, i can see all my tools, this was true also even before changing my permissions to administrator, but if i try to edit them i get the same error message.

can u provide a link to the latest release of sprutcam 8? i'll try and reinstall it all over again with administrator previlaedges and all that.

thank you

The SprutCAM 8 download link is in my previous reply (above). Did you create this tool library directly in SprutCAM 8?

yes, the library was created per eric andersons video on tormach.com

i have come across another issue, i did a program and in the simulation the tool changes take places and the next tool cuts like its suppose to but when i went out to my shop after the first tool change there seems to be a large gap between the tool and the material almost as if the first tool is longer than its suppose to be, i double checked tool lengths and they are all correct. could this issue be related to the library issue???? please help

thank you

i also noticed it gets stuck just after the tool change and just before the M0, which requires me to hit cycle start again to get it going.

thanks for the help

As far as the tool offset issue, I checked to make sure all my tool correction factors were matching the the tool numbers n they are per eric Anderson's tormach video.

Thank u

i hit the link above uninstalled sprutcam then hit the link again and reinstalled it, i am now able to edit my library with out getting that error window, i was able to edit 2 of the 4 missing tools and now they show up, i still have 2 tools that no matter how much i edit them they do not show up. only way to access the 2 missing tool is to go to tormach machine, then work with tool library and i can see them there, i just cant see them during the machining operation menu.

i havent tried to run the new program yet, it was 1:30am when i got done reinstalling everything....

thank you

all my library editing issues seem to be gone now which is great, BUT the new issue with the tool offset i still need to resolve.

is there a setting that specifies to aknolwdge the different tool offsets? it almost seems like it using the tool length from the first tool i use to zero.

please help

Sorry for the delay in my reply, I've been unwell for a few days.

Thank you for the update. I'm pleased that you've successfully managed to solve your problem(s).
It sounds like you have set yourself quite a steep learning curve. It can sometimes seem like you are banging your head against the proverbial brick wall, especially when you are new to everything and don't know which way to turn!

Please keep us up to date with your progress.

I was just about to ask you this! Very good learning curve. If you start messing around with CS offsets just remember to run every new toolpath at a feedrate of 10% until you're sure the machine, the tool, and your expectations are all on the same level. I've ploughed several tools into my workpieces at 100% bcs I was learning about altering my cs points.

Good luck.

I'm having new issue, and its on both machines, I have not looked into if the admin issue is the cause. In SC8 if I took the stock library and wanted to save it, "save AS" when I do that and go back to the library that I just saved... it is completely empty!

Not sure what is going on :/

I'm also having problems with the SC8 tool library. It now defaults to using the standard metric library that comes with SC8. I can load my custom library and see it in the list, but once that dialog box is closed the custom library is gone and only the default metric library is available.

It seems that it really does not like to have custom folder location, I manually found the library directory and went back to original, but still having random issues with this, and I am being cautious by making a copy of the files that I modify or save to, as to not get them lost/replaced with blank completely.

Thats what I would advise, make copy/backup of the file you intend to either save over/replace
