SprutCAM forum _ SprutCAM 7 _ Tool Holder and Collisions

Posted by: Mauricio Feb 13 2013, 06:26 PM

I'm trying to program a Finishing Waterline (Rest) operation into an existing pocket. The operation will result in a groove being cut inside the existing pocket. The starting point of the groove coincides with one of the walls of the pocket. The tool is a 1/16" end mill with an effective tool lenght of .15" Above that, the tool shank grows to 1/8".
I have entered those values in the Holder field in the Tool Geometrical Parameters window (0.125:0.15:0.125:0.7)
Sprutcam is not taking these values into account and is reporting a collision at the point where the groove meets the pocket wall. In other words, it seems to insist on calculating the tool offset based on the tool diameter, but it is ignoring the tool shank diameter in order to avoid the collision.
Am I missing a switch somewhere, or is this something that Sprutcam can't do?

Hi Mauricio,

There is an existing thread which discussed a previous similar issue. Maybe you could check to see if it answers your current question?
